What will I have my eye on this week? Here's the latest update:

I am watching the Friday high and low in nearby corn and soybeans to see which way prices break out after the USDA reports later this week.

What We're Watching

What We're Watching

What will our team be watching for in the days ahead? Weather.

We'll be keeping our fingers on the pulse of weather around the world. It is staying too wet in Argentina, hot and dry in central Brazil, and dry in the eastern one-third of Australia. It appears that a La Nina is starting to develop. What impact will these systems have on markets as they continue to unfold?

What We're Watching

What We're Watching

Good morning! This is Al Kluis here with your daily update on what our team will be watching as we get this week started:

We recommend that you watch the crude oil chart. A close this Friday above $50 will be positive for energy and grain prices. It looks like the commodity sector is bottoming.

What I'm Watching: September 12, 2017

What I'm Watching: September 12, 2017

Good morning, this is Al checking in to start your week off with our latest update on what our team is watching:

Watch the large continuation gaps in corn and wheat. Unless the USDA Report is bullish I expect corn and all of the wheat contracts to back and fill these large gaps on the continuation charts. Watch where the September contracts go off on Thursday.

What I'm Watching: September 11, 2017

What I'm Watching: September 11, 2017

Good morning, this is Al checking in to start your week off with our latest update on what our team is watching:

Watch the US dollar. With all of the damage from the recent hurricanes it is doubtful if the FED will raise interest rates in December. The close last week below 92 sets up a price target at 88 for the US dollar index. The lower dollar will be very positive long term for US grain and meat exports.

What I'm Watching: September 5, 2017

What I'm Watching: September 5, 2017

Al here, checking in with our second update of September! Here's what our team will be keeping an eye on as we start the new month:

Watch what the USDA Crop Progress reports today. Some of the key numbers I am watching are the corn maturity percentage, and the soybean dropping leaves percentage. The corn and soybean crops are 8 to 10 days behind normal in the northern Corn Belt, and the weather early this week will not[...]

What I'm Watching: August 29, 2017

What I'm Watching: August 29, 2017

Al here, checking in on the last Tuesday of August with an update on what my team will be watching as we move into September.

Prices for corn are entering the exact week when corn bottomed in 2016 (at $3.01). Watch for the first day that prices close above the two previous days' close to signal a low in corn prices.

Al here, checking in with this week's first update on what the team and I will be watching in the days to come:

Prices for corn are entering the two-week time period when corn bottomed in 2016 (at $3.01). Watch for the first day that prices close above the two previous days' close to signal a low in corn prices.

What I'm Watching: August 21, 2017

What I'm Watching: August 21, 2017

Al here, checking in with this week's first update on what the team and I will be watching in the days to come:

Watch the daily December Corn chart. After two inside days, now a close below Wednesday’s low at $3.63 will project prices down to $3.58 or to $3.52. A close above $3.66 ½ will confirm a short term low and can rally prices back to $3.78 to $3.80.

What I'm Watching: August 14, 2017

What I'm Watching: August 14, 2017

Al here, checking in with today's update on what the team and I will be watching in the days to come:

Watch the crop conditions report today. If conditions move lower, then odds are good that the USDA will eventually take yields lower as well.

Remember, we send out a full analysis of the USDA's Crop Conditions report each Monday by 4PM CST! Get it in your inbox by becoming a Kluis Client or trying out our 30-day[...]

What We're Watching: August 9, 2017

What We're Watching: August 9, 2017

Al here, checking in with today's update on what my team and I will be watching in the days to come:

The crop report on Thursday should provide fuel to move the grain market. Keep a close eye on the international situation with North Korea. War of any magnitude would not be viewed as bullish for anything in the short-term.

Farm Program Deadline

Al here again with a reminder about your new Farm Program paperwork.

Yes, back in February, you selected your five-year farm program. But you still need to sign up each year to get the program payments. The program sign-up deadline is September 30, 2015.

For many northern Corn Belt farmers in the ARC-CO program, you will be collecting $70 to $80 per acre payments on corn and $20 to $40 per[...]
